Tromso - The Paris of the North

Tromso is a friendly and lively city situated well within the Arctic Circle and is one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights.

The city of Tromso is home to approximately 65,000 people, and is thus the 7th largest city in Norway. Located on an island, surrounded by snow clad mountains, the inflight to Tromso is among the most scenic in the world. It is well worth grabbing that window seat on a clear day.

Arctic - but with a warming atmosphere

Tromso, despite its location at almost 70 degrees North, is a warm and welcoming city. The people here are known all over Norway for being outgoing and hospitable, if not a bit loud.

 

Weather-wise, the temperatures here aren't as freezing here as you might think. Due to the Gulf Stream winter temperatures normally lies in the -1 to -5 celcius range, whilst on a good summer's day it often creeps ovver 20 celcius.

In the summer Tromso is a town that never sleeps - possibly because of the midnight sun, which shines non stop from end of May until mid July.
