Trains to Tromso

Tromso does not have a train line – although it does have a bar called "The Train Station".

Despite this, if you have the time getting almost all the way to Tromso by train is possible, and it is also one of the most beautiful train journeys in Europe.

Trains from Southern Norway to Tromso

To get to Tromso you can take the train from Trondheim to Fauske and then take a bus from there. Find tickets and departures by clicking on the advert to the right, this will take you to the Norwegian national train company, NSB.

 

The night train from Trondheim to Fauske is a beautiful trip in the summer, and was recently voted among the top 8 most beautiful train journeys in Europe by Lonely Planet. Find Norwegian holidays with train journeys.

Trains from Sweden to Tromso

From Stockholm you can catch the train north all the way to Narvik, which is about 4 hours drive from Tromso.

There are regular bus services between Narvik and Tromso, and they often correspond with the train times.

Trains from Finland to Tromso

Another option is to take a train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and in summer there are bus connections to Tromso from there. This is also a car train.
