Successful Trade for Fishing Holidays in Norway
Norwegian fishing holidays are becoming more and more popular with tourists, a new report shows.
The industry is now worth approximately £24 million a year, with 434 tourist fishing businesses employing 1,200 people.
Popular with Germans
German tourists make up 70 per cent of the visitors, but other European countries, particularly Eastern European, are opening their eyes to the abundance of fish and beautiful scenery in Norway.
Recent Survey
The report on fishing tourism in Norway has been put together by research institute Norut in Tromso, and the authors see many opportunities for the Norwegian fishing holiday industry.
“Fishing tourism is a rapidly growing part of the Norwegian holiday market, but its’ potential is much greater,” says senior research analyst Trude Borch to NRK.no.
The fishing tourism industry in Norway currently offers a total of 15,000 tourist beds, and 2,370 rental boats, writes NRK.no.
