First passenger increase in 16 monthsPassenger numbers at Oslo airport Gardermoen were up for the first time in 16 months in November. The recession hit the airport hard, and since July 2008 there has been a steady decline in passenger numbers at the Norwegian airport.
But fresh statistics show that 54,000 more people went through Gardermoen in November compared to last year, a 3,8 percent increase.
International DeclineOn the international side, the airport continues to see red, however in November the decline in passengers were a mere 700 people.
The domestic passenger market increased by 7,6 percent, writes Reiselivsavisen.no.
The total number of passengers going through the airport in November was 1,472,000.
Competition from RyggeThe competition from other Oslo airports, such as Rygge and Torp, is also noticed.
The popular flights to Stockholm saw a decline of only 0,4 percent in November, but the two daily Ryanair flights to Stockholm from Rygge has led to increased competition on the route.
