Ski jumping game - "A marketing success"The online ski jumping game from Holmenkollen in Oslo has attracted 16 million visitors since the start in 2006.The project was launched in a bid to attract visitors to the Oslo region, through links on the game’s website, and the stunt has proved to work.
“We have registered three million clicks from the ski jumping game and through to the Visit Oslo and Visit Norway websites since the launch”, says Oslo’s head of tourism Tor Sannerud to Reiselivsavisen.no
New gameThe success of the project has led to the launch of another ski jumping game, modelled on the new Holmenkollen hill, currently under construction.
The game has cost just over £30,000 to develop.
International InterestInnovation Norway says to Reiselivsavisen that the games have attracted interest from all over the world and appeals to younger customers.
“The people who play the games come from many different countries, many from big ski jumping nations such as Poland and Germany. There’s also been interest from South Korea”, says Audun Pettersen in Innovation Norway to Reiselivsavisen.no.
