Norwegian buys more planes

The Norwegian airliner has signed a deal with Boeing to buy 15 new for delivery between 2014 and 2016.

The 15 new planes are of the popular Boeing 737-800 model, which Norwegian already has purchased no less than 48 machines of.

A win-win situation

CEO Bjorn Kjos said that the new airplanes are good for business.

“New aircraft is a win-win situation for passenger comfort, environment and for cost-effective running of the airline. It is cheaper to own than to rent planes and new aircraft are basically the bottom line for a profitable airline.”

As part of the placement of the new order with Boeing, Norwegian are now planning to phase out the older 737-300 machines earlier than first planned.

By 2012, the airline will have a fleet of 63 planes, all of the same 737-800 type.

Comfortable interiors

The airline is also investing in the interiors of the new planes.

The new deliveries will be fitted with the same interior as the Boeing Dreamliner, which according to Norwegian means better leg room, passenger comfort and cabin noise reduction.
