Giant solar explosions to cause summer northern lights this week
Southern Norway can expect to see northern lights tomorrow night following a massive explosion on the sun.
Forecasters predict the Aurora Borealis will be visible in the whole of Norway, south of Trondheim on Tuesday night.
Summer Northern Lights
Normally, northern lights can only be seen in Northern Norway in winter time, but this week´s predicted display is not likely to be seen in the north because of the midnight sun.
But anywhere south of Trondheim all the way to Oslo is likely to be able to enjoy an out of season northern lights show.

Scientists can not say with great certainty exactly when the northern lights will be visible, but they recommend checking the forecast regurarly, as well as the skies.

Researchers are able to predict northern lights based on solar activity, and yesterday there were two large explosions on the sun.
After many years in a lull, solar activity has started to pick up, meaning there is a likelyhood of more northern lights this winter.
