Norway is best place for whale watching
The Lofoten Islands have been named among the best places in the world to go whale watching.
In Norway, particularly in the Lofoten Islands your chances of seeing killer whales are better than anywhere else, writes Telegraph.co.uk.
Magical Lofoten
Whereas sightings of killer whales are becoming increasingly rare elsewhere in the world, Lofoten still delivers the goods.
“The number of sightings in some areas has recently declined, but not in the magical Lofoten islands, an archipelago above the Arctic Circle. Their nutrient-rich and deep waters mean that you are sure of a sighting – and you’ll need to travel just six nautical miles offshore, a one hour boat trip,” writes Telegraph.co.uk.
Whale Guarantee
Whalesafari in Andenes even operate with a “whale guarantee”, meaning that if you are unlucky enough not to spot any whales, you will get another safari for free.
They don’t have to give out too many free trips though – with a whale spotting success rate of 95-99 per cent!
