Hurtigruten Results Improve
Things are looking up for the Norwegian coastal cruiseliner as they shave £40million off last year’s quarter four loss.
Hurtigruten still delivers a loss of £19.5million for the fourth quarter of 2009, writes Reiselivsavisen.no.
2009 turn-around
In 2008, which was a disastrous year for the 117 year old Hurtigruten business, the bottom line showed a whopping £74million in the red.
During 2009, with the entry of major shareholder and new chairman of the board, Trygve Hegnar, Hurtigruten’s finances took a sharp turn for the better.
The bottom line for 2009 is still in the red, but this time only £3 million.
The Hurtigruten shares also proved one of 2009’s stock exchange winners.
Positive outlook on the future
Hurtigruten’s view towards the coming seasons is positive, and that figures for 2010 are looking promising.
During 2009 the company managed to cut costs by nearly £24 million, and also delivered an operating profit of £10million.
