Hurtigruten Teams Up with National Geographic
National Geographic will be the newest partner for Norwegian coastal cruise liner, Hurtigruten.
After struggling financially for several years, things are finally looking up for world renowned Norwegian cruise company, Hurtigruten.
In the last few weeks new injections of cash from Norwegian investor Trygve Hegnar has sent the share price rocketing, and now National Geographic also wants to help Hurtigruten.
Sustainable Toursim
Jonathan Tourtellout at the National Geographics Center for Sustainable Destinations says Hurtigruten are one of the best examples of sustainable tourism.
“The crew is Norwegian, the food is Norwegian and the experience is Norwegian and is so special and unique to the country where the ships are sailing. The same cannot be said of more traditional cruises”, says Tourtellout.
Welcome Partnership
In Hurtigruten ASA this prestigious new partnership is very much welcomed.
“This is recognition that Hurtigruten is something very special. When they become an associated partner it is extremely motivational for us. Their reach is impressive, with TV-channels and magazines”, says CEO in Hurtigruten ASA, Olav Fjell to TV 2 News.
