Sir Attenborough in Spitzbergen for new programme

Sir David Attenborough is filming in Spitzbergen, Norway, for the new BBC documentary Frozen Planet.

The new nature series will be shown in the UK next year, and Attenborough was in Svalbard following researchers from the Norwegian Polar Institute in their work polar bears.

Follows Polar Bears’ Lives

The highpoint of the film crew’s visit was when the researchers captured a 7 year old female polar bear, writes NRK.no.

The bear was fitted with a GPS tag, which enables the researchers to follow her movements through the next 15 months.

Four Years in the Making

The Frozen Planet series has been in the making for the past four years and will be a stunning portrait of wildlife and nature in the Polar Regions.
