Foreign tourists fail North CapeThis year´s summer season was a disaster for the northernmost point in Norway.
The number of foreign visitors to the North Cape dropped by 12,200 in the first ten months this year.
On the positive side the number of Norwegian visiting the famous plateau increased by 37 per cent, making Norwegian tourists accounting for 10,5 per cent of total visitors.
More Cruise Passengers- We note that fewer tourists came in groups this year, but at the same time we see that there is an increase in independent travellers, cruise ships and people travelling on Hurtigruten, says Ole-Jacob Wold in Rica Hotels to Reiselivsavisen.no.
Despite the financial crisis affecting visitor numbers negatively, Wold is not worried about the upcoming 2010 season.
- The German and Dutch markets both show positive tendencies for next year, and we expect growth in cruise tourists, says Wold.
