71 Degrees North starts 11 September on ITV

An Arctic variant of “I´m a Celebrity...” has been filmed in Norway and the series is aired from the 11 September at 9pm on ITV1.

This brand new adventure competition is a long running, hugely popular Norwegian concept, where contestants have to face challenges such as ice and snow, glaciers, skiing, hiking and swimming to reach their goal of 71 degrees north, or the North Cape in Northern Norway.

Sporty Celebrities in the Arctic

The programme is hosted by Kate Thornton and Gethin Jones, and the celebrities taking part in the challenges are Joe Absolom, Susie Amy, Andrew Castle, Diarmuid Gavin, Gavin Henson, Konnie Huq, Michelle Mone, Marcus Patric, Shane Richie and Lauren Socha, writes ITV.co.uk.

On their journey north through the Northern Norwegian landscape, the ten celebrities face competitions and challenges to test both their physical and mental strength.

Rewarded with Beds and Food

The celebrities will be split into two teams and given a task to complete by a set time. This could include gruelling challenges such as swimming across an icy lake, climb a mountain or ski across a glacier.

For years the show has been known to present the toughest tests to the participants´ physical and mental strengths of all reality shows in Norway, and the British celebrities are not getting an easy ride either.

The team who wins each week´s challenge, will be rewarded with a bed and hot meal, the losing team have to set up camp and sleep in their tents in the icy Arctic night.

Each week a celebrity will be voted off the show by the other contestants.
