The Itinerary:

Day 1: Travelling and Arrival in Tromso

You fly to Tromso, also dubbed “The Gateway to the Arctic”. Read more about Tromso.

Tromso is a cozy city with a lively nightlife and many cultural events throughout the year, such as the Northern Lights classical music festival, an international film festival and the annual Reindeer racing world championships.

On the day of arrival, your tour manager will tell you to the Sami culture and their traditional way of life and you will be put up in the 4-star Clarion Hotel in the centre of Tromso.

Day 2: Reindeer Sledding and Sami Culture

You travel to Camp Tamok, where you will learn more about Northern Scandinavia’s indigenous people, the Samis. You will get to have a go at reindeer sledding, throwing a lasso and enjoy a traditional Sami meal in the Sami tent, called a Lavvo.

In the afternoon you head back to Tromso for an evening at your leisure in town. Keep your eyes on the skies for the northern lights!

Day 3: Learn More about Tromso and the Polar Region

Tromso is a town not to be missed, and today you have the opportunity to explore the city with the help of a local guide. Visit the stunning Arctic Cathedral, take a trip on the cable car to enjoy the amazing views of fjords, mountains and islands from the Floya mountain, or stroll through town and visit the Mack brewery, the worlds northernmost. Included in the package is entry to the Polaria Museum, where you can learn more about marine life in the Arctic and meet the bearded seals living in the aquarium.

In the evening it is time for the amazing northern lights husky ride. You are taken out of town the Tromso Wilderness Centre where a team of huskies await to take you into the snow-clad wilderness. Tucked up nice and warm in reindeer skins, lean back and enjoy the ride whilst glancing up at the skies and hopefully spot the northern lights. Read more about seeing the northern lights in Tromso.

A traditional Sami dinner will be served in the Sami Lavvo on site after your ride, and there are opportunities to stay longer to hunt the northern lights. Day 4: A Day at Your Leisure in Tromso

You can choose to lounge in the rooftop jacuzzi in the hotel, stroll around in town or join one of the many other activities on offer in Tromso. Read more about what to do in Tromso. An alternative return trip to the wilderness centre is organised, for those who didn’t have enough of the huskies the night before.

If the “tricky lady” (that will be the northern lights) haven’t made an appearance, look into booking a guided northern lights “hunt” with local experts Guide Gunnar or Kjetil Skogli in the evening, who will take you to the northern lights – if there is any they will find it for you! Day 5: Returning Home
